Chelly Brown

#344 Chelly Brown

Chelly is a creative Copywriter with experience writing for The Royal Navy, The National Trust and Orange.

Making words matter, when and where they need to, has been making her tick for as long as she can remember. Chelly believes words are communication above anything else and writing words that help and talk to real people are the ones that matter most.

That could be giving a voice to a start-up, or devising a campaign for a well-off-the-blocks big name brand. And everything in between.

#336 Cheyanne-Joni Morris

CJ recently relocated from Leeds to London to snap up a job working in TV at Channel 4, after working in media buying and planning in Leeds. CJ's big on writing - after graduating from English Literature in 2016, she successfully got a short story published and has been writing ever since. She likes to draw inspiration from everything around her - books, films, art, culture - meaning she's inunudated with inspiration in London now.

As well as working at Channel 4, her side hustle is a blog called Balling on a Budget, advising others on how to save money and still have fun whilst living in London. She's also writing a novel and writes many short stories in her spare time - basically, if there's anything you want written, she'll write it.

She's a smart and creative and friendly and at the beginning of her media career - a budding badass gal if you will.

Becca is a badass because she won't let anything get in her way when it comes to learning, developing and creating. She's an award-winning, multilingual, self-taught Copywriter. But she's not content with smashing just one solo skill - this year she studied Graphic Design at Shillington. Ever restless, Becca’s always nurturing a side hustle, and has been involved in two brilliant side projects this year. She was a lead editor and writer for 26's incredible Armistice 100 Days project in collaboration with Imperial War Museums. Her own piece is called Forgot My Socks. From trenches to terrors, this year she also collaborated with the Ministry of Stories to launch the Hoxton Monster Postal Service; a creative writing project where kids and kids-at-heart can write and receive a reply from a monster. Working with several other brilliant writers, she created monster characters, set their tones of voice and helped to train people how to write like a monster in horrorspondence workshops. Now, Becca makes words sing for brands as a Freelance Copywriter for Branding and Design, offering brand strategy, language strategy and a proper storytelling approach to copywriting. Her work is as imaginative, playful and vibrant as she is.

From being a radio jockey in India to a copywriter Intern in Tokyo and now, the US, Prasiddha's ideas always showcase a unique perspective that comes from her exposure to different cultures and experiences. She is currently a Copywriter Intern in JWT, New York.

She has won an award in the YCN show, London and also bagged the Top Dog award that is presented to one team with outstanding work in school for that quarter. The one thing that always stood out for me with Prasi is her energy. She brings life to any discussion that she is a part of. She is very passionate about doing impactful work towards actual change.

Outside of advertising, Prasi is an event emcee. She enjoys hosting events like birthday parties, weddings or dealers meets. Her command over language makes her fit into various areas that involve communication and I think that is what makes her a total badass.

She is a badass Creative Director that runs her team like a G, she is supportive and nurturing of young talent and she worked hard to get to where she is today. Alongside the world of advertising she also takes on the male dominated world of Football as the editorial director of This Fan Girl, a female focused football collective (you should check them out). So in between taking on the football patriarchy and producing creatively mind-blowing campaigns - she also teaches feminism at home and practices positivity for all. If you try and knock her down, she gets right back up. And her cat is awesome.

Becci is badass because she cares, every brief she gets she treats it as if it's her child. She gives 190% at all times (I really don't know how she does it!). Her ideas are insane, she's incredibly talented. She could have a job at any agency in the world, i'm pretty certain of this. Even though she works crazily hard, and always gives her work her all, she always has time to nurture young talent. I wouldn't be where I am today, without her. She is constantly doing talks and workshops for young people encouraging them to get into the industry, she can't do enough for other people, she is one of the most selfless people I have ever met, she's a trail blazer for female creatives. When I think of the word Badass, I think Becci Nadin.

Or maybe it's something in the water... Not only is Adina fighting for equality against every ‘ism’ going, she also dedicates every weekend to working in a café for the homeless.

Adina's what you call quietly brilliant - yet you can be sure her great thoughts and ideas always stand out as the loudest in every briefing.

She tackles every brief she's given with humanity and at the forefront.

While her role as a Creative and Strategist at Isobar Romania equipped her with all the ingredients to be a great Copywriter, it's her big heart and passion for change that makes her a truly badass gal.

By day Lucy is master minding complicated retirement propositions and writing copy to make the intricacies of investing seem simple. All done with impeccable style (her personal passion is fashion). Co-piloting the creative direction of a huge programme of work, working in-house with the client and as part of multiple marketing teams (she’ll tell you the real pros and cons of running agile) Lucy still manages to make it look effortless. It’s a tough gig coupled with the fact that financial services work, doesn’t always win the attention and accolade it deserves. More than anything, she’s just quite nice and when not racing through our Kanban board, she’s mentoring and help train some future badass gals.

Alex Kosterman

#210 Alex Kosterman

Alex is a digital creative working at Impero in Wapping, London. She started her career in Cape Town, South Africa – working as a junior copywriter for Hellocomputer. It wasn’t long until she snapped up her first awards shortlist, in Cannes digital category – working on the team that created Social Feed, a platform that provided free school dinners for kids in need.

A move to London saw her join Impero, an agency whose main goal is to make tired brands famous again. Over the course of two years, she’s been involved in winning pitches for The O2, Beefeater Gin and Primark, as well as working on campaigns for Lindt, Chivas and Campo (which won two Lovie awards in Food & Drink and People’s Choice). She’s also been interviewed by the Daily Mail, and for a good reason (something that not many people can say) – a vanity project that she co-spearheaded with a colleague, Grim London, which went viral. Grim London was an interactive map that showcased the history of all the murders, hangings and general grim going-ons of the city.

In between all of the client work and murder-mapping, she also managed to win a Chip Shop award for a parody Pornhub advert, and work on numerous charity projects for causes close to her heart. Christmas Tales was a website which allowed people to remotely feed Impero’s office dogs, with proceeds going to Battersea Dogs Home, and Trump’s Meltdown was a campaign which raised money for Polar Bears International while allowing users to melt an ice-sculpture of Donald Trump.

When it comes to execution, one of her main goals is to achieve diversity in everything she puts out into the world. And by getting further involved in Art Direction (even though she’s “technically” a copywriter) it’s something that she’s been able to champion.

It’s not common to find a creative whose award winning-work focuses on feeding poor children, murder, wine and porn. But that’s just the kind of creative that Alex is. She’s an incredibly clever and adaptive creative, with a wickedly sharp sense of humour. She is always full of fresh new ideas whilst keeping her eyes open for new, innovative ways of communicating. She can effortlessly produce ideas, as well as being an encouraging and supportive team member making her an absolute pleasure to work with.

#150 Aoife McCleary

August 4, 2018

Aoife is an enthusiastic and passionate senior creative copywriter, whose parent's devotion to vowels left her with a ridiculously unpronounceable Irish name. She's worked at Ogilvy and Karmarama, making campaigns for Unilever, Air New Zealand, Iceland, Dove and Costa. She's currently freelancing and working remotely while travelling around South America - she's been to Columbia, Peru, Bolivia and you'll find her in Brazil at the moment. She's a lover of big ideas, medical oddities and speaking about herself in the third person.
