Alex is a digital creative working at Impero in Wapping, London. She started her career in Cape Town, South Africa – working as a junior copywriter for Hellocomputer. It wasn’t long until she snapped up her first awards shortlist, in Cannes digital category – working on the team that created Social Feed, a platform that provided free school dinners for kids in need.
A move to London saw her join Impero, an agency whose main goal is to make tired brands famous again. Over the course of two years, she’s been involved in winning pitches for The O2, Beefeater Gin and Primark, as well as working on campaigns for Lindt, Chivas and Campo (which won two Lovie awards in Food & Drink and People’s Choice). She’s also been interviewed by the Daily Mail, and for a good reason (something that not many people can say) – a vanity project that she co-spearheaded with a colleague, Grim London, which went viral. Grim London was an interactive map that showcased the history of all the murders, hangings and general grim going-ons of the city.
In between all of the client work and murder-mapping, she also managed to win a Chip Shop award for a parody Pornhub advert, and work on numerous charity projects for causes close to her heart. Christmas Tales was a website which allowed people to remotely feed Impero’s office dogs, with proceeds going to Battersea Dogs Home, and Trump’s Meltdown was a campaign which raised money for Polar Bears International while allowing users to melt an ice-sculpture of Donald Trump.
When it comes to execution, one of her main goals is to achieve diversity in everything she puts out into the world. And by getting further involved in Art Direction (even though she’s “technically” a copywriter) it’s something that she’s been able to champion.
It’s not common to find a creative whose award winning-work focuses on feeding poor children, murder, wine and porn. But that’s just the kind of creative that Alex is. She’s an incredibly clever and adaptive creative, with a wickedly sharp sense of humour. She is always full of fresh new ideas whilst keeping her eyes open for new, innovative ways of communicating. She can effortlessly produce ideas, as well as being an encouraging and supportive team member making her an absolute pleasure to work with.
