McKenna is a freelance designer, art director, and illustrator based in Yangon, Myanmar. Her work focuses in branding, as she enjoys exploring the empathy and strategy behind world-building. Starting at New York-based branding firm Red Antler and then moving to in-house design at eyewear emporium Warby Parker, her goal has always been to build strategically-sound visual foundations for organizations just out of the gate.
In Myanmar, McKenna has been working within the growing creative scene as the country attempts to transition into a democracy. Her current role is with Proximity Designs, a social enterprise aiming to improve the livelihoods of Myanmar farmers using human-centered design thinking. She believes that designers must consider the ways in which their skills can work towards social justice, and her latest side projects involve illustrative collaborations for groups working towards press freedom, sexuality education, and human rights within the country.
