Sheri Bateren is passionate about creativity and mental health. Intrigued by the idea of how she could bring her two loves together, she developed Mind Canvas. Mind Canvas is an organisation raising awareness and delivering workshops on how to develop wellbeing through creativity.
Sheri Bateren started Mind Canvas in the Summer of 2018. Whilst practicing as a psychotherapist she became aware of how little people knew about maintaining their wellbeing in order to prevent mental illness from occurring. She also personally found that being creative helped her manage her own wellbeing in a way she had never been able to before. She also found that others had this experience to and thought it was work spreading the word. She is passionate about spreading the message that nourishing our wellbeing through the arts is an enjoyable and exciting way of engaging in self-care.
Sheri Bateren is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists (BABCP). She has 6 years experience of working in mental health settings within the NHS. She has experience working with a range of mental health difficulties such as Depression and Anxiety. She has also disseminated published research on improving mental health literacy in foster carers.
