REFLECTIONS

So it’s International Women’s Day and Badass.Gal’s 2nd birthday.

But today we’ve got no event planned,

no big campaign,

and no huge announcement.

But what we do have an honest reflection on the past two years.

Oh, and this brand new blog setup.....so I guess we do have one very small announcement. More on that later.

We set up Badass.Gal in 2018 after being fed up with International Women’s Day being the day where suddenly brands, agencies and CEOs decided to put gender equality at the top of their agenda, only to put it right back down to the bottom the very next day.

We started Badass.Gal with a commitment to celebrating a different ‘Badass’ female creative every single day for an entire year.

An ambition which quickly became a lot more work than we ever imagined - but the most rewarding year of our lives.

365 Badass Gals later, on International Women’s Day 2019 we reached 1 year of Badass.gal.

Badass.Gal became a recognised agency resource.

A recruiter's dream - a database of amazing creatives? For free?

A daily dose of inspiration.

And we even launched a sell-out t-shirt collection.

But in year two we set a different ambition, one to up-skill our community.

We went from posting daily, to weekly, and began collaborating with others to host events, and workshops.

We began our #AdobeXBadassGal partnership - a monthly workshop series which focused on Adobe’s different creative cloud platforms, hosted by their incredibly talented creative solutions team.

We partnered with Adobe again, taking over two of their CreativeCollab live streams.

And we worked with our friends at General Assembly to host an evening learning just ‘How To Be A Badass’.

But suddenly the realisation of working full time in advertising, whilst trying to keep the Badass.Gal momentum going took its toll, and we didn’t manage to achieve everything we set out to do.

But we’re back.

And we’re giving our social channels a bit of a (well needed) refresh.

We’ve also finally realised that doing this on our own is silly, so we welcome Jazz to the Badass team. Jazz will be taking a lead on all things social.

And we’re also launching this blog.

Which after today will be a place for members of the Badass.Gal community to share anything they wish. From opinions to work, events or exhibitions to visit, and even advice for others.

So this is day one of Badass.Gal year three.

And this year is about creating more opportunities and spaces for all 467 Badass Gals to have their voices heard, share their work and continue to show the industry just how badass they are.
