Harriet Allner

#308 Harriet Allner

From the moment I met Harriet Allner, I was blown away by her effervescent personality, her passionate zeal for her work and all endeavours surrounding the written word, and her determined efforts to uplift those around her. While working at Starling Bank, Harriet worked tirelessly to use her respected status within the PR industry to draw attention to the need for a healthier financial life, as well as the risks we as a society face when we ignore our mental health. Since moving on to Common Industry, she has been a true champion of Financial Feminism in the accounts she represents and the strategies she employs for their PR campaigns. She is spearheaded Starling Bank's #MakeMoneyEqual campaign, which is focussed on the gender wage gap, but also wage gaps for other marginalised members of society. Outside of work, she volunteers her own time to uplift the women around her, dedicating time to make plans for women in a pro bono fashion grow their recognition in the industries for which they work. Her most recent endeavours (both in work and outside) have been to shine a light on female leaders and speakers, particularly in the Financial Services/ FinTech conference arena with the logic that promoting female speakers at conferences sets an example for younger women. In her spare time, she is also a brilliant contributor to publications like The Metro, in which she shares her love of literature and writes honestly and frankly about often-ignored issues like loneliness and mental health.
