After a year of running Badass.gal we noticed that many young women often shy away from celebrating their success. So, to celebrate 365 days of Badass.gal we created #BadassBecause, an exhibition which aimed to break the stigma surrounding self-promotion and encourage more women to own their achievements.

We invited members of the badass.gal community to write a quote sharing why they’re badass. An exercise that many of us may find uncomfortable - but a real empowering one. Once we had the quotes we worked alongside badass illustrator Beki Reily and photography Marc Hayden to create our portraits, which you can see below.

We hosted our exhibtion at Twitter on International Women’s day 2019, inviting members of our community, the industry and the press to come along and celebrate one year of badass.gal
